That’s just crazy.

I’m in the second chapter of the book right now. It discusses special relativity, and the idea that our personal concepts of motion are entirely different to someone else’s concepts of motion, and so there’s no really accurate way to perfectly measure ANYTHING. Knowing this, the only ways we actually measure anything are by comparison. Naturally, this can relate to a wide variety of things-to-be-measured, and not only in the scientific sense (although thinking of everything in terms of string theory and vibrations CAN tie it all together) — but really, that’s just insane. It makes me reevaluate conceptions of… Well. Anything and everything really. It makes me reevaluate my own conceptions, the conceptions of others, and the idea that people only feel one way or I may only feel one way because of the very disparate comparisons we are all making to the world around us.
